Hero 3 black edition. I just don't get it at all.. Why the hype. This camera sucks.

After waiting over a month, it finally arrived. I first took some indoor video (wrapping Christmas presents) and the video was not only washed out, it underperformed my el-cheapo AipTek 720P camera and my iphone. Another problem and I hoped it was the micro SD card, purchased 3 new class 10 patriot cards and it does the same on all 3. In 1080p 60, the thing skips every 3 seconds. What I mean, is if I record 10 minutes, and then pull the file and play in any player before editing, it slows down the video every 3 seconds to almost no motion for a sec, YES, every 3 seconds. There is also something that happens to the audio every 3 seconds. I've updated it, upgraded it. set it to 720p 30fps and same thing. All I want to know is how to send this POS back to gopro. Their customer service is horrible, I spent all day Monday trying to reach a human and was unsuccessful. This has been a horrible experience since the day I ordered it October 17th, Till they finally sent it, Dec 10th. I've only used it twice and was hoping it was settings or something. This camera must be defective, or people are lying about it. I don't know, but I know one thing, I won't purchase another thing from this company. Nothing but problems, trouble and if the produce is so great that they are overwhealmed with calls, then they should be watching the quality control. I can't find a thing about this problem online but that's another thing. I code. People are pushing the gopro site up so high in the google rankings that it's hard to find forum posts or complaints.

  • I code as well. I get it. Lots of clever online engineering to create artificial hype here, not to mention endorsements of well know people for additional spin. I hope the poor bastards who injected 20 million dollars in this scam are ready for a rough ride. At least I only spent 400 and I should get my money back :) The good news is that in the future someone is going to nail the technology and the user experience required to make what gopro promises a reality - and my money isn't on gopro. It should just work, but it's definetly temperamental and sometimes flaky, so yeah I hear you and no, your not going insane and you make some valid points.

    My gopro 3 black edition won't even charge at this stage so your doing better than I am. My gopro 1 had serious fogging issues and I have always had to do some serious voodoo and fancy workarounds to get around this.

    Dear Nicholas Woodman, I have never seen such horrible customer service from a company that sells an expensive item. You guys don't repair YOUR equipment or provide an "authorized service provider" to allow customers that spend $200-$400 on a camera if something happens to it? I have never seen anything like this from a company!!! And I was in AWE of how bad your customer service could handle an item like this!!!! You guys evidently don't know how to treat customers that spend their hard earned money that think they have support from that company!!! I will never purchase another item from GoPro, and I will let everyone know how bad your customer service is, the fact is it is non existent!!!! My case number is 702844 and my case with the BBB Complaint is 57260802!!!!

  • piece of shit gopro! user unfriendly, from the start taking it off the display mount. pics on class 10 sim card came out pitch black. continuous freezing having to remove battery out and in. returned it, and now believe gopro is scam company with good marketing. stay away from gopro!

  • Buyer beware! I bought a silver 3+ but this applies to the black as well.
    Worked great for a couple weeks. Now it shuts off randomly anywhere from a few seconds to 20 minutes into a recording. Resolution doesn't matter. Now check the forums and see that this problem is YEARS old. So you could get a dud like I did. No response from Gopro, been 4 days by email. I went to their site where the have a page dedicated to this exact problem. Tried all the cure alls. Several different high end cards.This is a machine that is a dud, like 5% of all gopros.Oh yeah you can't take it back for an exchange- Gopro policy's customer first satisfaction, well, that's a myth. Hopefully I will be able to send it back (customer first- I pay the shipping). But in the mean time a big disappointment and what an expensive waste of time.
