While I was updating my new gopro wifi bacpac firmware it stopped half way and the computer locked up, now the wifi bacpac will not even start, is it now dead?
Is there a fix?

This works mine was bricked but now works, just download the new beta software and update again, these is a new button at the bottom near change password.
http://software.gopro.com/beta/GoProC... -
I also had this problem with the BacPac not displaying anything and on Windows displaying the same details as others have shown previously.
I originally updated my BacPac on a Mac after updating to CineForm 1.3.0 (the version that is the current one on the website).
I contacted GoPro and they suggested uninstalling 1.3.0 and installing http://software.gopro.com/Mac/GoProCi... and trying the update of the BacPac again.
Success!
This might work for others, but I take no responsibility for you trying this and it makes things worse!

I'm mac os lion user and CineForm device windows say Status : connected / Name and serial : never changed / version : Unavailable - reconnect. +1 here....
Wifi Remote = "Error" and will not do anything else. -
-
+1...
Same thing. I've tried on multiple computers with nothing.
WIFI Bacpac is still identified, however lists "version unavailable - reconnect device" inside Cineform Studio. -
-
I've submitted the error to GoPro, will reply here if the response is helpful.

Aos Brasileiros.Consegui!

Updated, bacpac and gopro, installed the app and everythinh worked.
Updated bacpac while connected to the kamera, and thats how i got the first uppdatera to work to.
Just hoping they get that android app out, so i wont have to use the ipod touch anymore. -

Well good news. My exchanged BacPac updated correctly without any problems! All I did differently was charge everything up overnight, and disconnect all extra USB devices. Only other USB devices I had plugged in were my keyboard and mouse. I also used a USB connection from the motherboard. Everything works, and I have to admit the App is pretty damn cool. Nice to see everything finally working!

Same here, Wifi Bacpac bricked after it stated "Update successful".
Any ideas?-
+1. I really hope I don't have to go back to the store and get a new one!

Another one here. :(
Update of the hero2 last night was successful (on OSX 10.8.2)
Update of the wifi backpack failed, and did not turn on afterwards
Even nothing on the display while charging.
It seems after plug in an USB cable it tries to connect, but it fails.
Hope GoPro comes quickly with a solution.-
exactly the same happens to me! :(

I have the same problem... waited so long for the app...

Such a cool device - but I have had many, many problems with it. Like the others my bacpac won't turn on. I was really looking forward to checking out the new long awaited iPhone app.

ditto :-) cineform crashed and bacpac died ,gopro died as well but seems to have recovered .am waiting to hear back from GoPro :-(

I have the same problem...
The assistance of the GoPro told me to send it for replacement. I told him that the problem occurred during the first upgrade but then alone was resolved. GoPro does not seem to understand I sought reimbursement for the change. -

"a must force up the cable to the cineform recognize it."
Could you explain it one more time, what did you do to get it to work again?
As many others, I also have a brand new and dead not working WIFi Bacpac! -

I just tried Mark Hessling's solution and it worked for me too on both of my bacpacs! On a Mac install the link that he shared and plug in your bacpac and the software will automatically will find your device and ask to update.

YESSSSSSSS the Mark's solution worked mee to :) :) :)
Many thanks!!!!! -

I tried Mark's solution but the bacpac does not show up in the device list at all in version 1.2. Out of desperation I clicked the Update button anyway, and I get a web page telling my Hero 2 is already registered (I don't have a Hero 2).
My BacPac was purchased just today, it powered on fine when I unboxed it, and after the FW update with CineForm 1.3 on Mac OS/X 10.8, it no longer powers on at all. In CineForm 1.3 when I press the BacPac power button the device list seams to refresh or otherwise flickers, but the BacPac does not power on and does not show as recognized in the Device Manager. in CineForm 1.2 nothing shows in the list at all.-
I found out that I did get the same repeated "Hero 2 is already registered" message when I had used a SD card which was already used for another previous update.
Try to delete *everything* on it (unless you manually want to remove all the update related files) or use a new SD card and give it another shot.
Oh, and also make sure to not connect it to an USB hub but directly. -

The behaviour you describe with CineForm 1.3 (switching on and off and devices window flickers) is exactly what mine did with 1.3.
Have you uninstalled CineForm 1.3 using the Uninstall app in the /Applications/GoPro/Tools directory?
To do my update I had my Hero2 turned on plugged my WiFi BacPac (which I assumed was on) into the Hero2 and the connected the WiFi BacPac to the USB 2.0 port. GoPro advised that using a port on a USB 2.0 hub will not work and the web site states that a USB 3.0 port may also have problems. Not sure how you can do the update if you have a recent Mac which only has USB 3.0 ports! -

I may have found a solution that will help some people. it worked for me after a week of trying on different computers.
Turn off the little "C" in the bottom right of the windows bar (under all the working programs). Once that's done. go for it and it should work perfectly fine.
Hope this helps -
-
does this fix breath life back into wifi back?
mine is dead, dead i say, dead-
No idea sorry. have you tried draining all the units by leaving them on and then charging them to full.
I turned both the gopro and the bacpac on while not attached to each other. Then connected the two together. connected them to the laptop via the bacpac and conducted the update from there with out a problem....once the "GoPro/CineForm Status Viewer" had been turned off. -
-
-
-
-
OK, I got mine working.
Following the followup advice, I made sure I had a blank card in my Hero 1, I had left the Bacpac plugged in and charging over night, connected the Bacac to the Hero, turned on the Hero, launched the Ciniform 1.2 program, used the supplied USB cable and plugged that directly into the computer's USB 2.0 port (no hub) and it was instantly recognized and updated.
Then I couldn't get the remote to ever look like it was connected, but after much futzing around, with the Bacpac connected to the computer and showing in the Ciniform device window, I pressed buttons on the remote until Ciniform said the remote was connected, you'd never know that from what the remote was displaying (mostly just the pulsing WiFi logo). Once Ciniform told me the remote was connected I was able to update that. Lots of small windows flashed on the screen, the remote indicated it was updating, indicated it was done, indicated it was updating again, the Ciniform window stopped at a full progress bar, lots of small windows flashed on the screen some more, for a few minutes. Then Ciniform told me it was done and the remote finally for the first time since I bought it indicated that it was connected to one camera.
Thanks to everyone for their advice, GoPro still hasn't responded to my help request, but everything is now working and I'll know what to do for my next 3 WiFi Bacpacs... -
-
So it seems like we have a fix for the MAC crowd. Has anyone tried this fix for the PC? Same issue for me. No power to my BacPac after the update but I can see it in Ciniform, but I just get the option to change the name and password, but not update. Thanks.

I bought the GoPro Hero2 HD with BacPac and remote earlyer (kit) today... I have charged everything for about 5 hours, and done everything according to the manual/video. I managed to firmware upgrade the cam, but not the BacPac nor the remote. Windows pings/finds the BacPac, but Cineform Studio will not show it as connected.. I'm trying another computer tomorrow, but if someone have someting clever/an ideea for a fix, I would be happy to try it....

This works on a windows 7 (64bit) computer
Try turning off the little "C" (GoPro/Cineform Status Viewer) in the bottom right of the windows taskbar (under all the working programs).
turn on the Gopro 2 and plug it in. open cineform and go to the device list under help (its hidden in the top left corner of the window.
Once youve registered the unit it should show that an update is available. go ahead from there. there should be two updates to do on the Gopro2 itself.
When you reaady for the bacpac, turn on both the bacpac and gopro (whilst diconnected from the pc and from each other) then connect the two together and then plug the bacpac into the pc. the process of registering will need to be done and then you should be able to update.
once thats done. leave it plugged in and turned on and then turn on the remote and leave it for a few minutes to sync.
once you see it in the device list and it says update available, go ahead with the update. you may need to do this part again if it fails. it failed half wat through for me but the second time it worked fine.
Hope this helps -

not really - I have tried this advice and my bacpac will not be seen - so I cant interact with it at all...
-
-
can you reset them - or force an old firmware version in via terminal or something similar... I cant see...
13/10/2012 00:13:52 GoPro CineForm Studio[1267] Debug message: /Users/craigdavidson/Git/Apps/Macintosh/Libs/bpusb/bpusb.c:794: no BP found
the messages I am getting show that it is looking for a GoPro employees specific Mac - I think this must be the bug that the software is stuck looking for something that is not there -

Has anyone tried with Cineform V 1.2.0.127 for Windows?
Does anyone have a link for a download of that version? -
-
Well, I tried Mark's solution on a Mac and worked for me as we'll, but not instantly, I also had to force the USB a little bit into the bacpac, it was weird. So I had to follow Mark's steps mixed with Ivan's. Now I'm trying to get the remote updated...

Hi,
I have the same problem
Simple question, how do I force the update to my devices again? -
-
Me too, I won't be a Hero today ^^
Same as all of you.
After a successful update on Cineform 1.3.0.162, my wifi bacpac doesn't turn on anymore. no icon would lit up.
I tried the previous version of cineform 1.2.1 I think (for Mac), but it still doesn't work. no icons lit up, and no reaction from my computer.
I can't believe, we are at the end of 2012, I bought it today 13th october 2012, and still the firmware is the old one. They should have asked all users with the problem to send it back to shop and have it replaced, point to the line !
Now I try with windows XP version of cineform. If not working, I go to the shop to get it replaced and inform them of the SMELLY BUG !!!!!!!-
Even with Win XP, it doesn't do nothing. The only thing I know, is there is someting happening, because every time I connect or disconnect the bacpac, the update window desappear then reappear. So there is a reaction. but the bacpac screen doesnt lit up.
Also, since then, my LCD bacpac doesn work anymore. I can only hear the audio. But no screen lits up ^^
You wanna get shit material, let it get built by a cheap factory in China. This camera is not worth 20€ coming out of it !!! And they sell it for 350€...... -

Hi
I upgraded my H2 & BackPac using Cineform 1.2
Using Mac OS X 10.8.2
The install went without a hitch
Cineform say everthing is updated
Now when I power up the Wifi back pac all looks good until I switch on the camera either using the app or physically
What happens is the wifi bacpac keeps turning its self off just for a instant and this means the wifi drops
What I want to know is how to force a new download to the devices?
Can we go back to the old version, if so how and were do I get the SW?
Many thanks
From a wet Dublin -

@ Jonnie W:
Good Luck ^^
I bought the wifi bacpac + remote yesterday. Did straight the update, wich was successful. But since I started using it for the fist time, the bacpac doesn't lit up anymore. i now.
But it seems the usb connector and cineform recognise there is something happening, since, every time I connect or disconnect, the update window desappear and reappear. Also, Since that update, my LCD bacpac isn't working anymore. I can hear the audio, but the screen doesn't work anymore.
What's that for a 500€+ equipment, that when you buy it, it straight doesn't work coming out from the box ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
They should call in new software developpers, and electronics specialists.
They even didn't think of working to create a formatting .exe & .dmg to uninstall the updates, so we could start the whole process again in the hope that it would work.
Thanks gopro, it's not today I will be a Hero ! -

4 days and Still waiting to hear back from GoPro on now dead WiFi bakPak !! but by the sound of iit they are probably a bit busy !! or keeping their heads down,

I was with the same problem. I update with link of Simon and mine it's works.
I have a XP.
Thanks Simon! -
-
Now i have problem updating the remote control.
It start the update but never finish.
On the remote, it says it finish but at computer it hangs at the end, and enters in a loop.
On the first time after i try to update, the remote works, but once i turn off. When i turn on again it start asking for an update. and hangs there..-
Henrique, I managed to update a BacPac Kit does not work since I bought. I had trouble updating the remote but after three attempts it worked.
Try, try and try ... it works. -
-
i did on multiple computers.
When i did, the "info screen" on devices says, Congratulations, update went ok, turn on the device and disconnect the bacpac." Something like it. But the problem is that the progress bar is hanging at the very end. Like it endend but have to do something. I guess it to tell to the remote to not update again. Because as i said. when i disconect, the remote is working, i can control the camera. Bt when i turn of, it start asking for an update. Well thanks anyway. I will try again later. Gonna try on mac too. -
